Plano, Texas
Plano is a city that spreads from east of Hwy 75 to west of the Dallas North Tollway. There is a wide variety of housing areas across the Plano region.
The area started with milling in the 1840s and began growing rapidly over the years starting in the 1900s. The name Plano comes from the Spanish word for "flat" which is very descriptive of the terrain.
The city is now home to many headquarters for companies like JC Penny, Cinemark, FedEx Office, Dr. Pepper/Snapple, Legacy Bank, Beal Bank, Main Event Entertainment, Pizza Hut, Frito-Lay, and now Toyota along with many others. There are three malls in the city: The Shops at Willow Bend, Collin Creek Mall, and The Shops at Legacy, an area that has apartments, shops, and restaurants constructed with the new-urban philosophy.
Plano is a city that is big on PARKS! There are many city parks and the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and the Oak Point Park & Nature Reserve. If you are looking for time in the outdoors, there is plenty in Plano.
Most of the city is served by the Plano ISD though some parts of the city are served by Lewisville ISD, Frisco ISD or Allen ISD. Many private schools are also in Plano.
